A forward I got (What you have to believe to be a republican)

Things you have to believe to be a Republican:
Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a bad guy when Bush's
daddy made war on him, a good guy when Cheney did business with him
and a bad guy when Bush needed a "we can't find Bin Laden" diversion.

Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is communist, but trade
with China and Vietnam is vital to a spirit of international harmony.

The United States should get out of the United Nations, and our
highest national priority is enforcing U.N. resolutions against Iraq.

A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own body, but
multi-national corporations can make decisions affecting all mankind
without regulation.

Jesus loves you, and shares your hatred of homosexuals and Hillary
Clinton.

The best way to improve military morale is to praise the troops in
speeches while slashing veterans' benefits and combat pay.

If condoms are kept out of schools, adolescents won't have sex.

A good way to fight terrorism is to belittle our long-time allies, then
demand their cooperation and money.

Providing health care to all Iraqis is sound policy. Providing health
care to all Americans is socialism.

HMOs and insurance companies have the best interests of the public at
heart.

Global warming and tobacco's link to cancer are junk science, but
creationism should be taught in schools.

A president lying about an extramarital affair is a impeachable offense.
A president lying to enlist support! for a war in which thousands die is
solid defense policy.

Government should limit itself to the powers named in the Constitution,
which include banning gay marriages and censoring the internet.

The public has a right to know about Hillary's cattle trades, but George
Bush's driving record is none of our business.

Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime, unless you're a
conservative radio host. Then it's an illness, and you need our prayers for
your recovery.

You support states' rights, which means Attorney General John Ashcroft
can tell states what local voter initiatives they have the right to adopt.

What Bill Clinton did in the 1960s is of vital national interest, but
what Bush did in the '80s is irrelevant.

Feel free to pass this on.

If you don't send it to at least 10 other people, we're likely to be
stuck with Bush for 4 more years.

Friends don't let friends vote Republican.

--
Jason Plank
(CCNA, MCP, MCSA, Net+, A+)

More poor people in america..

http://www.newsday.com/news/nationworld/nation/ny-uspov27q3943912aug27,0,6545710.story?coll=ny-nationalnews-headlines

BY LAUREN TERRAZZANO
STAFF WRITER

August 27, 2004

The ranks of poor Americans increased by 1.3 million last year nationwide, while the numbers of those lacking health insurance climbed even more, according to new figures released yesterday by the U.S. Census Bureau.

Real median household income remained unchanged between 2002 and 2003, at $43,318, but the number of people in poverty rose to 35.9 million, with significant increases among families with children. There were 12.3 million families with related children under the age of 18 living in poverty in 2003, an increase of 694,000, or nearly 6 percent, from 2002.

In New York State, the number of poor families with related children under the age of 18 rose by 1.6 percent, from 381,521 in 2002 to 387,512 last year.

In New York City, the poverty rate last year was 28.7 percent in the Bronx; 20.4 percent in Brooklyn; 19.6 percent in Manhattan; 13.4 percent in Queens and 9.3 percent on Staten Island. Staten Island and the Bronx each showed declines of about a percentage point from 2002 while Queens had a 1.2 percent uptick and Manhattan and Brooklyn were unchanged.

"America's children remain at the bottom of the national agenda," Marian Wright Edelman, founder and president of the Children's Defense Fund, said in a statement.

"There's been an increase in the needs and numbers of people seeking assistance," said Jan Jamroz, administrator for parish social ministries at Catholic Charities on Long Island.

"Over the last year, we've seen much more complicated cases, many more layers of obstacles to their being able to survive on Long Island: underemployment, lack of health insurance and lack of transportation."

The number of Americans without health insurance also grew by 1.4 million, to 45 million, according to the report. In helping to explain the increase, health care advocates said that while people are working, many employers cannot provide affordable health care coverage for their employees, many of whom are in low-wage jobs.

"The increase in the number of people without health coverage is the direct result of a stagnant economy, double-digit health care cost increases, and employers passing on more and more of those costs to their workers," said Kathleen Stoll, director of Families USA, a national advocacy group.

The data was released a month earlier than usual - three months before a presidential election in which the nations' economic well-being, particularly among working and middle-class families, has been a key issue.

Sen. John Kerry, the Democratic presidential nominee, said yesterday that "under George Bush's watch, America's families are falling behind."

Bush, campaigning in New Mexico, said that while "we have more to do to make this economy stronger," recent economic indicators show a recovery. "Because we acted, our economy since last summer has grown at a rate as fast as any in nearly 20 years," he said.

The Census Bureau's definition of poverty varies by the size of a household. A family of four living in poverty has a typical annual income of $18,810, while a two-person family makes a little over $12,000.

The poverty rate also varies widely by region. While 12.5 percent of Americans lived in poverty last year, up from 12.1 percent in 2002, the rate was 38 percent in Hidalgo County, Texas but only 3.1 percent in Anne Arundel County, Md.

Rising poverty

The number of Americans living in poverty as well as those without health insurance rose last year according to the Census Bureau.

Below poverty level

35.9 million

Uninsured

45.0 million

SOURCE: CENSUS BUREAU

How MY day strarted....

What a fucked up morning this morning was...

I was driving down 2nd street this morning and i stopped short of hitting a honda civic... as I loook in my rear view mirroor I see a big ole GMC Yukon about to clash into me.... next thing I know I'm hitting the windshield because I didn't have my damn seat belt on... as I sit in the car still unsure what happens the guy that hit me comes to ask me if i'm ok... just then I realized what really happened. I sat in the car for about 5 minutes with really no clue of what was going on.... looked for my cell phone for another 5 minutes (it was on the passenger side seat)..... At any rate, luckily i'm fine. I'm just glad the damage to the car is pretty minimal. have a few scrapes on my leg and a bump on my head... but i'm here another day ;-)

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Bush administration underestimated the 2004 cost of U.S. military operations in Iraq (news - web sites) and Afghanistan (news - web sites) by $12.3 billion, a report released on Wednesday found, fueling criticism that the war was badly planned.

::: I wonder if the Bush administration used the same accountants that MCI used? Or perhaps the Enron execs helped? :::

A few random things....

1. Download finished of the complete "A Tribe Called Quest" discography. The download was about 600 megs and I'm quite pleased it is finished. I am now onto the complete "Beastie Boys" discography. I know. Sounds lame. You wouldn't understand unless you worked the night shift and were without people to IM and quality music to listen to. Now is a good time to enhance my music selection.

2. Kevin Millwood actually pitched a good game last night. He's still a fuckwad, but at least the phillies won 5-1 against the mets.

3. In addition to edonkey and imesh being good for 'music' it turns out they have other good things out there, like CISCO study material. I am downloading a bunch of CCNP stuff as we speak.

4. My work week starts tomorrow.

5. I thinking about coming down to DC on the 24th. That is Starscape night, but Mark Farina and ECB are playing at five. I think I have more of a chance in running to friends of the old if I go to Starscape, but I think 5 would be more of a good time. We'll see.

6. FOOTBALL SEASON IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Funniest thing ever......

As some of you know I used to work for MCI. Well a memo was sent out to a large group of employees. I've pasted it below. What I find amusing is that one of the lines say "It has come to my attention, that there is a small group of employees who are extremely negative in the work environment". No shit sherlock. 20,000 people have been laid off from the company, work is being moved around, and they haven't had a decent raise in 4 years! I wonder why they are negative or doubt the future of the company?? DUH.

-------------------------------

MCI
Negativity
Hi All,

Here's hoping you've had a good Fourth of July, and are having a good summer. I'm sure that you are aware that we've recently had a contingent of people out in Weldon, as well as down with our Ashburn based vBNS engineering group, training to take on the product.

Nathan Magee, who's project managing the transition, assures me that we are well progressed and ready to go. I congratulate all of you; those taking on the new product that have made some sacrifices to attend this training, and those who supported the business while training was on-going'all deserve kudos.

The Cary crew has also stepped up, and is having a great impact on our ability to bring in the new work.

I realize the workload is picking up, and that you are working harder than ever. Here are some measures being taken to try to get some relief:

a) We are currently looking at bringing on additional headcount to support our efforts.

b) I have received permission to BACKFILL open positions where we see attrition, meaning any further people leaving the company CAN be replaced

c) We're bringing resources up from the former TASC group under Bob Vilardi, to be trained on DSL in support of Advantage

d) We're looking at reducing the after-hours work load by limiting our hours of operation

e) We're looking at the 'Welcome' / preliminary call letter to see if we can't refine the verbiage to take the IE's name and number off, so that status calls get placed with the IC's, rather than coming back to you. This will also be the vehicle in which we reinforce our new hours of operation.

We have to shuffle workload around, because we have a lot of work to accommodate, and fewer bodies with which to do it. Some people will, unfortunately, have to leave their zone of comfort to shore up the products where we need the most help. Now is the time when your expertise and product knowledge are most needed and appreciated. I thank you for your flexibility and willingness to help across the organization.

I would be remiss and negligent if I didn't make the following observation:

It has come to my attention, that there is a small group of employees who are extremely negative in the work environment (and vocally so), about the future of a) MCI; and b) their current job status in Ashburn. I'm not sure what's driving the doubt or the negative commentary, but I can tell you that it is unprofessional and I ask that you direct your concerns to me, directly, versus continuing the disruptive commentary with other colleagues.

You also have the right to escalate your concerns to your HR Generalist (to find your Generalist go to: https://source.mcilink.com/hrsupport/default.asp), and/or the Open Door Hotline at 866-730-DOOR (3667).

There have been instances of scheduled activations being abandoned by the assigned engineer, ignoring customer, IC and Account Team communications and requests, and purported 'work slow-downs / stoppages'. These types of behaviors must cease immediately as they violate MCI's Standards of Professional Conduct and will not be tolerated.

I SAID IT IN OUR ALL HANDS MEETING; I AM NOT MOVING ASHBURN'S WORK TO CARY, AND I INTEND TO STAY THAT CURRENT COURSE.

It's unfortunate that I needed to include negative commentary in this message, but I'd like it noted that these comments are aimed at the minority of employees who choose to bring their negativity into the office, not those of you that put your heart and soul into your job.

I have worked here for 19 years, and I've seen really bad times. We're finally pulling up out of one of the worst financial 'nose dives' in history. Now is the time to get the company back on track. Teamwork is essential for all of us to be successful.

I welcome your comments, either on mail, or by calling me.

cjm

oh blah dee ohh blah daaaaaaa

So here I am. It's 4:15 in the morning and I'm sitting at work.

Who?
me.

Where?
at work.

When?
4:15 in the AM.

So I have a great schedule at work. I work Sunday, Monday, Tuesday -> Every other Wednesday. That means two weeks out of the month I have 4 day weekends. 4 days. That's 4 days where I really don't accomplish much LOL.....

Anyways, the only thing that stinks about my schedule is that I rotate days/nights every 3 months. This week my team went to the night shift, so we are working 7pm - 7am. Oddly enough I'm the only one on the shift that hasn't fallen asleep. Even more odd, the fact that they actually pay 4 of us to be here overnight. Very silly. Scheduling is a real issue here (as is just about every other procedure).

Either way. I'm bored. I can't wait to get off work and go wake up Tamar!

;-)

nobody else... is awake.... but me.

Go Jim Thome and Go Bobby Abreu FUCK KEVIN MILLWOOD

So last night I watched the phillies on channel 19.

Jim Thome hit his league leading 28th home run of the year. At the bottom of the ninth the recently made All-Star Bobby Abreau hit a walk off (game winning) home run. Had the phillies lost, they would be tied with the team they were playing (the NY Mets) for the lead in the division.

I would like to say FUCK KEVIN MILLWOOD. I think this pitcher is so god damn overrated. What a dick. Trade his ass. Say it with me "FUCK KEVIN MILLWOOD".

Tamar and I are going to see Farenheit 9/11 today. I have to say I'm not looking forward to it today. I know how moving it will be and quite frankly i'm not in the mood ;P I'm sure it will be an interesting time none the less.

In other news, John Kerry "Did the right thing". Kerry-Edwards are being called "The Dynamic Duo".

In other news. Our new apartment rocks but there is something that is pissing me off more and more every day. If we run the dryer and have the AC on in the apartment the circuit breaker kicks and we don't have power for a few minutes at a time. What a pain in the ass it is to do laundry. These fucks better fix it. I'm getting beyond pissed.

That's all for today.

NOOCH

Guess who's back in the motha fuckin house......

Let's see... Haven't updated the old livejournal since November 2002.

The girl that "made my night", well I ended up moving in with her about a month after we were dating. Ever since then it's been a steady flow of her and I. Tamar got accepted to grad school at Temple University in Philadelphia and I have since relocated with her.

We have a BEAUTIFUL apartment between front and second on south street. The beginning of south street isn't as hectic as the main stretch so it's nice. There are awesome restaurants/bars in the area. It's very cool. I live 4 blocks from 611 records, and once I buy turntables again... i'm screwed :P

I got a job at Sungard Data Systems where I am enjoying the following types of devices:

Nokia, Netscreen, Checkpoint, and Cisco Pix Firewalls
F5 Load balancers
Cisco and Juniper Routers
Cisco/Foundry switches
Ds1, Ds3, OC3 and above circuits

It's great so far. I don't know how long I will be at this job but it's great experience. Especially the firewalls!

Anyways.... I hope Bush loses like a muffucka. I picked up the new method man and i'm rocking it hardcore. It is so the dopeness.

holla back.

The last few days have been interesting.....

We will be launching "SPUNDAE" in DC starting in November. This is going to be pretty dope. That's basically all i've had time for in the last 3 weeks... conference call after conference call after conference call. Well worth it in the end!

We beefed up our promotional team in a major way. I'm stoked about this too. We are in at about 40 promoters thus far, not including a few out of state/area promoters (NYC, Philly, Pittsburgh, Norfolk, Richmond, Raleigh - NC). Things are panning out quite nicely.

Decided to go out last night. Should have just stayed home, It was good to support Harry/Ransom, Randy, and Paco however. Didn't get to stick around to hear Jesse for various reasons. Bummer. I'm actually starting to like drum and bass a little.. scarey thought.

Thinking i'm going to hit up college park tonight for Camille's house party, not sure. One of my old "friends" called me today and wants me to come over for some reason. I'm half scared to know what she wants.... ahhhhhh!

I decided to write in here more often... I'm not sure why. Anyways, the night begins....

Ahhh..

It's been a while since I last wrote.... Been a hectic last month or so I guess.

Had alot of drama w/ somebody I really care about... things are slowly getting patched back up I guess.... I'm sure we'll end up being friends again soon.... Till then.... wah.

Last weekend my cousin killed himself.... That has been alot to deal with. The worst part of dealing with all of this stuff is that I realized I don't really have anyone close to me anymore that I can turn to. I mean, there is one girl I work with that tries to be there for me.... but it always gets weird. I have had a hard time opening up to Timmee recently too.... things have gotten weird there... I guess because he is always w/ Jackie. Maybe it's just me but he's changed alot and really doesn't seem to interested in anything that isn't Jackie. I'm so dis-enchanted from everything and everyone..... I have so many friends... but none that I feel like opening up to. Ugh... it's weird.

Oh well. It's probably just me. My thoughts have been a bit warped recently.

I'm the man.

That's all I have to say really. Off to meet w/ Tom B to discuss his residency.
